Carlos Bártolo
Carlos Bártolo (Lisboa, 1968) is a graphic design graduate (ESBAP, 1990) with a master’s degree in Equipment Design (FAUP, 1998) and a PhD in Design (FAA-ULL 2021). He is lecturer at Faculdade de Arquitectura e Artes / CITAD – Universidade Lusíada, Lisboa, Portugal.
He teaches project related subjects (Design) and theoretical ones (Art, Cinema and Design History) at Lusíada University (Lisbon, Portugal) since 1995. Since his MA he centres his studies in the Portuguese Design History field, researching the Design object as an ideological communication support, especially in extreme political spheres. On his PhD research he’s studied how the Portuguese dictatorship (1926-1974) tried to evoke its social and moral values through the design of ideal home interiors by appropriating national archetypes.
